Costs

The following costs are valid at the time of writing but might change over time. Please inquire if you need to know the latest numbers.

Data storage fee

Data storage is free for the first 100 Gb. Any usage beyond costs CHF 50.00 per Tb and year. The amount of data on an account is averaged on a weekly bases and costs are calculated accordingly. Data in group folders are charged to the relevant projects. Storage fee can be charged as direct costs to SNF and EU grants but data needs to be kept in project folders.

An example: a user has on average 1.8 Tb (SI units) of data in its account: (1.8 [average] - 0.1 [free amount]) x 50 = CHF 85 per year

External user fee

All users from ETH, Eawag and WSL can have an account for free because these institutions contribute yearly to the computing hardware. All other users (e.g. from other Swiss universities) are considered "external users". Currently, the fee for external frequent users is CHF 500.00, for external non-frequent users CHF 2,000.00 per year.
