Welcome to the GDC EulerTutorial.
The aim of this tutorial is to familiarise you with working on an HPC cluster. We will start with some basic biocomputing on a server or VM and then move to an HPC cluster in the second part of the tutorial. We will try to keep the technical aspects to a minimum and focus on the everyday use of an HPC cluster from an applied point of view.
We will use the ETH Euler cluster, but the basic principles can be applied to any other HPC cluster. Of course, any ETH student or staff member can log in and try out some of the commands and challenges.
More detailed information regarding the Euler use can be found in our GDC EulerManual.
If you would like to learn how to handle and analyse genomic data, you can attend our annual course or find many helpful resources on our course website Genetic Diversity: Analysis.
This is a work in progress, if you find any problems please let us know.
The tutorial should be self explanatory. If you still have questions, we are happy to offer discussion sessions to clarify your issues.
