This is the supporting website for Evolutionary Genetics. It is a work in progress and I will do my best to keep it up to date. Send me an e-mail (see below) if you spot an error, missing something, or having troubles of any kind.

Like last year, we adjusted our course schedule to avoid overlapping classes to keep crowd size minimal at the Zoological Institute. Please note that there is a 3 week gap between the first module (Bioinformatics W39-W41) and the other two modules (Population Genetics (W45-W47) and Molecular Evolution (W48-W50)). The lecture on Speciation by Daniel Berner (W42-W44) is independent and not part of Evolutionary Genetics.

Overview

The course comprises different parts (modules) of 3 weeks each. We start with a basic introduction into bioinformatics and teach you basic skills. Our focus is on handling sequencing data and reproducibly. The next module is Population Genetics with the aim of better understand the forces acting on the genetic structure of populations. Molecular evolution is the last component of this course. It explains genomic composition and how it changes over time. If possible, classes take place on site. We meet on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2 to 5 in the small lecture hall (1st floor) or Praktikumsraum (O1.20) Zoological Institute, Vesalgasse 1.

Possible Last Minute Changes

In time of coronavirus nothing is certain, and everything is possible. Therefore, it is likely that we have to make adjustments according to the situation and regulations.
